We review software properly
Most software review sites are written by people who spend an afternoon clicking around a free trial, copy a few bullet points from the pricing page, and publish. They look thorough. They're not.
KanoIT exists because that kind of content was wasting our time when we actually needed to make tool decisions — and we suspected it was wasting yours too.
What we actually do
We use the tools. We run email sequences and watch deliverability numbers. We hit platform limits and document what breaks. We do the cost maths that the pricing pages deliberately obscure. We talk to people who rely on these tools to pay their bills, not just people evaluating them for the first time.
The goal for each piece of content is simple: give you the information you'd want from a friend who already made the expensive mistake.
Our testing process
- We use the tool for real tasks — not a demo walkthrough. Setting up actual automations, hitting actual limits, exporting actual data.
- We check the numbers independently — deliverability rates, pricing at different scales, break-even calculations. We don't reprint vendor claims without checking them.
- We research what breaks — support forums, Reddit threads, negative reviews on G2 and Capterra. The failure modes matter as much as the features.
- We structure the conclusion around your use case, not the tool — every review has a "who should look elsewhere" section because some tools are wrong for some people.
- We update when things change — pricing and features change. Each article has a review date and we revisit when platforms make significant updates.
Who writes this
KanoIT is run by a small team with backgrounds in online marketing, SaaS product evaluation, and content publishing. We're based in the EU, which is why our content covers GDPR-relevant details like EU VAT OSS compliance in Shopify and GDPR data processing in email platforms — things most US-focused review sites skip entirely.
We don't accept sponsored content, paid placements, or "editorial partnerships" with the tools we review. The only commercial relationship we have with vendors is through standard affiliate programmes — and those are fully disclosed. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full list.
What we cover
- Email marketing platforms — deliverability, automation, CRM, segmentation. Our GetResponse vs ActiveCampaign comparison is the most detailed head-to-head we've published.
- Course and funnel platforms — pricing reality, feature limits, what's actually included. We've covered Systeme.io vs Kajabi and Systeme.io vs ClickFunnels in depth.
- Ecommerce platforms — transaction fees, variant limits, SEO trade-offs. Our Shopify review covers the maths most merchants never do.
- Website builders — CMS depth, code export, SEO capabilities. The Framer vs Webflow comparison explains why those 658,000 vs 232,000 live site numbers actually mean something.
